Well, this is news. The Gofundme for Arts in the Armed Forces already doubled their goals for 2020, but this is not just about meeting budgets. It's about showing gratitude and support for Adam Driver and his continued service to our troops and maintaining SW fandom's reputation for kindness and generosity.
Joonas Suotamo, who, for those few who may not know, succeeded Peter Mayhew in the role of Chewbacca, just weighed in and offered a fun little incentive. If the fundraiser makes $75,000, he (and possibly John Boyega) will do the #BenSoloChallenge Because of this, the campaign's been extended a week, but I think we can make this new goal.
I hope that this will help #AITAF expand their programming and reach more bases and hospitals, helping more people, than previously thought possible.

I am overwhelmed. Not only has the Gofundme for Arts in the Armed Forces met its goal, it kept rolling! Adam Driver's foundation now has surpassed all its fundraising goals for 2020. This means they have more money than they anticipated to put toward the coming year's projects, more money for scholarships, more to award to veteran playwrights, expanding their programming, programming at military bases and hospitals, however they choose to direct that funding. And I'm proud as punch for our part in their success.
Because of that, I'm mulling over some possibilities for how we can invest the support we get here. Like maybe a special surprise for my more than worthy collaborator. However, I will need a lot more support here. I also have a Gofundme for our continuing work. I'm already hard at work on the next book. I've already promised Monami Kun a raise. But I think we can do even better.

Now the goal is to meet AITAF's fund raising goals for 2020, so they can spend more energy on doing what they do best, using the theatrical arts to help our troops and veterans and to bridge the veteran/civilian disconnect.
