Like you, I'm enjoying 'Hominids'... I'll have a look at your reading list as you've tracked the non-anime work on Tapastic down.
You are right, that's how I originally picked them. From that list, "The Only Living Boy" is really well done, as is "Rawhide Bushido". Rawhide Bushido is a little manga-y but it reminds me a lot of Battle Chasers, art-wise. Some eastern influence, but tastefully executed.
I should have added that I haven't been through the whole list yet so that is not to say others in that list are no good!
