So, here we are, back to the where it all began - in novel form. Although, this whole post-a-chapter at a time approach is a little different. The story has changed a lot, too.

Back in high school, it was just me working on the story in my head. A few years later, I showed the story to Winfreda Hill. She helped me develop and write the story further and we both collaborated over four years. Without her, I don't believe that I could have progressed this far. Sadly she passed away a few years ago, and I promised her I would finish the story. I struggled to write and after losing the most recent copies of the story in a fire I began to lose hope in ever getting it finished.
But... I could not forget the promise I made to her.

Later, I joined up with co-writers Ashley Ray, and Mick Ellem, and we began working on a script for an anime series based on the story. We put together a small but talented team who helped us expand the world and diverisfy the characters; we cast voice actors for the main roles, and recruited some independent artists to design the characters and storyboards. Mick eventually moved town and although he still came to the table read-throughs and still was involved in the project - he was no longer writing with us. For a couple of years it was just Ash and I working on the scripts and we began to re-create the world and re-imagine the story that would be fitting for an anime series. This whole process added some interesting elements to the story, adding some quirky comic elements and fleshing out the characters.

Unfortunately, in the end, the funds to produce an animated series were just too prohibitive. So, I began re-working The Dagger of Darkness with my partner and co-writer (and spell-checker) Kelly Lye, telling the story as it was originally intended, as a novel. And that’s where we are now - back at the start.

Hope you enjoy.

So, there will be a small break from writing more chapters, until I have finished revisions. There are a few things I wish to correct - contradictions and other issues. It will also help allow me to get a better understanding of where I am with all the characters so far.

When I first told people I was planning to create an anime series, they thought I was crazy. They were right, it was crazy. I had not the slightest idea on how to produce one - but I was determined. I had no idea about the animation process and knew that I had to find someone who did. Later, I got in touch with a number of animators who all at the time were far too busy and already had other projects. I finally came across an animator by the name, Vann Oba, whom had already worked on anime series, such as Boruto. I couldn’t believe my luck! He agreed to draw up a storyboard for me and animate the entire thing. Now, the only issue was to fund it. I spent days - weeks, trying to figure out how I could afford it. You wouldn’t think a one minute - thirty second Anime Opening would cost much, right? Wrong! It was going to cost around $10,000 - and for good reason. Animation is a long painful process, and this animator was going to do it all himself. I paid him to create an animatic storyboard, which that alone put me out of pocket. I continued my research for ways to support the project and finally found Kickstarter. I had knew about kickstarter for some years, but had never really looked into it properly. It was only when I did, that I realised it would be the perfect platform for what I needed.
When the kickstarter was launched, I knew the chances of making $10,000 was unlikely, but there was some hope that maybe, just maybe we could make it. I was very grateful to those who pledged and supported the show, but unfortunately it was unsuccessful in the end.
I now realise I had bitten off more than I could chew, but I enjoyed every moment of it, and had learned so much.
It may not be an Anime series, but I am still telling my story - and in my opinion is told better than I had ever imagined and it is all because of the people who helped and believed in it, my friends and Co-writers. Most of all, I could not have done it without the love and support of my fiancee Kelly.

Peravia is hot and dry for much of the year except in the highest mountains along the borders, where snow is frequent. On the north and west of the region is almost completely ringed by mountain ranges, the rest being girt by water. Towards the center is mainly vast desert and is inhabited by goblin tribes.

Ballastan being its capital is known to be the largest trading city of immense wealth, magnificent architecture and prestigious ships, and thanks to the pristine natural harbor created by the Golden Antlers, Ballastan grew into a thriving port city. Slavery being its main source of income, Ballastan also makes its wealth from wine, salt, fish, meat, vegetables and other alimentary products. Ceramics, linen, and woven cloth as well for spices being items of trade.

Ballastan is also famously known for its Colosseum that hold a range of events, including racing giant Engorian beetles.

Borg is ruled by both a king and queen -the queen of the north, and the king of the south. This country is known as one of the wettest countries in Qwe, due to the channel that runs from the East and into Blytherood Depths, transporting relatively warm water into Borg. This water evaporates into cloud vapour and as it moves into the colder regions of Southern Borg, the vapours become more dense and is trapped by the surrounding mountains. During the wet season incessant rains lash the region, sometimes for 13 to 20 days at a stretch.

Borg may not get as cold as Kastarvia; its neighbouring country, though it can still get unforgivingly cold winters and to the south is cold for most part of the year, due to the eastern winds that blow from the icy mountains of Kastarvia. Most of the country is filled with mountains, cliffs, and deep valleys with rolling hills , rivers and deep forests.

Borg was originally inhabited by Elder Dragons, though after the war between the Deragos and the dragons , most of the Elders were destroyed and fled the land. The First Folk settled in their place. Vast amount of settlements took refuge in these valleys, some established on rocky crags, overlooking the river valleys - some still remain there to this day.

The First Folk built a temple in the mountains (Silver Heights) and is said to be the first school of magic. From this, a mage guild institution was formed, and was a means of providing magical education and services to the people of Borg, and to promote an understanding of External Magic. From this school, other schools of magic emerged around Qwe.

Qwé is the second of nine realms in the Nihilmere universe, and was created by the five lesser gods. However, the gods had soon become bored with their creation, and moved onto other things, leaving the world unfinished.

The seers, who were servants to the gods, watched over their creation while the gods were away. The seers created magical moths to inhabit the desolate world, and it was through these moths that other life emerged. Soon after, the Mundus-Moths began to travel between the nine worlds pollinating magic from one world to the next.

And, of course…it was the gods who took credit.
