Just like the right-hand man had promised there were the bags of the antibiotics the very next sunrise. He had also stolen a bunch of other items that would surely come in handy. When Romeo woke up I was going to rip him a new asshole for this shit. Mafia gang or not he needed to go to a hospital and see a doctor. I knew partly why they had chosen the clinic I worked in. We got a lot of the cases of shootings and gang-related patients. Attaching Romeo up the IV drip took no time and it would be a waiting game now. I knew the meds would work but it all depended on Romeo.
Romeo needed a high calorie and protein meal soon after he woke up to replenish the supplies his body had used trying to heal itself.
Seeing him in his bed pale against the sheets really did something to me. My chest tightened and it was like the longer I looked at him like that the longer it set in this man could die. It was a long stretch to call him a friend but maybe that's what we are now?
Leaving the room I went to eat dinner in the dining room with the right-hand man, Darius. He was a quiet man of little words, but he listened really well. We entered in a slowly casual chat. I was given a bedroom but I sunk out to watch Romeo. Surely that sounded creepy but I told myself it was only because the man was sick, not because he was handsome and I was slowly coming to love him. My thoughts were on Romeo and only Romeo.
"If you are that worried, you may go eat in his room."
Pulling me out of my thought I looked at him embarrassed, he must have noticed how worried I looked.
"Thank you."
Grabbing my plate I basically ran up the stairs to Romeo's room. I was worried about him, nothing more. Sitting in the chair beside Romeo I ate my dinner and watched for any kinds of movements. Romeo had a heart monitor on, probably stolen too, but it made it easy to check over all of Romeo's vitals at once. After checking all his signs, by hand and the monitor, I went to shower. Running a bath I laid there and listened to the sounds the machine gave off. This time the healing process would take much longer and I wasn't going to leave until he was perfectly fine, whether that took weeks, months or even possibly years.
Getting out of the bath, I dried off and walked to Romeo's walk-in closet, surely something in here would fit. After not finding anything I jumped out and said ill fit you, I took a normal looking black t-shirt off the hanger and pulled it on. Finding the smallest pair of boxers he had I slipped them on, They barely fit but they weren't falling down so these would work too.
The room was really quiet, but Romeo's TV fixed that problem. I turned it on the music channel lowly, I would go crazy if I didn't stop focusing on the sounds the monitor made. Flicking off the bedroom light, even though my internal bodies voice was saying no. I pulled back the bedsheets and got in, Its not like he would really mind. Keeping from touching him I laid just far enough but close enough to hear his heartbeat.
