Back in the town clinic, Igor was bandaging up his own nose while Prometheus was giving Ghost a bath thoroughly washing her talons while wearing rubber gloves. Neither of them said a word about what happened in the woods. The silence was interrupted by the sound of someone walking towards them in the halls. It was Albert.

“Hello? Is now a bad time?” Albert asked as he entered.

“I-It’s fine, Albert. What brings you here?” Igor asked smiling.

“Igor, is there something wrong with your nose? Your voice sound severely nasal.” Albert commented.

“Uh.... I just... had an accident.” Igor lied and Albert could tell by his tone but decided to dismiss it.

“When you told me about what became of Lord Stein and how you thought you saw him wearing Mark Eldrich’s arm, it made me remember something that I needed to share. I now suspect my old friend Prof. Waldman was talking about the same person during a conversation we had years ago, Prometheus.” Albert explained.

“What do you mean?” Prometheus asked as he wrapped Ghost in a towel.

“Prof. Waldman and I used to teach at the prestigious medical school here in Berlin before I had my accident. We both specialized in surgery, but he delved in chemistry and in medical alchemy. At one time during his youth, he even researched the history of alchemy involving flesh specifically... reanimation .” Albert began.

“You mean he experimented with-” Prometheus shuddered.

“No. He never crossed that line. He only experimented on animals and that alone scared him straight into quitting the damn practice cold turkey. However, Waldman had a student who was fascinated by the things he learned and wanted to know more. Too much more. He only mentioned his student’s first name: Victor. After thinking about what you told me and how Lord Stein underwent the miracle treatment Baron Frankenstein is peddling, I am beginning to think that his student and the Baron are the same Victor.” Albert informed them.

Prometheus digested this information “Albert, there’s something I need to confess to you now. Do you remember that walk-in patient named William who Agatha brought in? He’s a Frankenstein too and... I know him. He’s someone from my past life. Someone dear to me.”

“What?” Albert gasped.

“And I am sure Victor Frankenstein is important to me too, but not in a good way. I think... I think Victor did this to me, Albert. I also think he made me forget my life on purpose. I don’t remember why though, but I just know that William and Victor are connected to me. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you...” Prometheus hung his head.

“I can’t fault you for finding this hard to talk about, but if you are going to tell me truth, gentlemen, tell me the whole truth. I can tell you’re still hiding something by your voices.” Albert scolded them.

“... Prometheus and I went to investigate the old lab where he woke up in three years ago.” Igor came clean.

Albert’s eyes widened “What did you find there?”

“Confirmation that whatever happened there was illegal and most likely involved flesh based alchemy. Moreover, it is most definitely connected to Baron Frankenstein’s body modifications and treatments. We found a notebook that belonged to him documenting his experiments. I think he started practicing body modification there while it was still in the experimental phase. I even think it is likely that I was one of his patients, Albert.” Prometheus went on.

“Dear Lord... He really was a bad seed...” Albert shuddered as Igor helped him sit down “Waldman also mentioned that Victor was far from being the most... savory character. For one thing he was extremely lecherous when it came to women. He would go through them clothes and even caught him in the act with another female student right in the middle of the lab, but that’s not the worst of it. Victor was extremely amoral, had a sociopath and was the biggest narcissist he ever met. If it was not for his genius, Waldman would have distanced himself, but he thought that he could put him on the right path. Sadly, Waldman fell victim to the plague before he could even try. I have reason to believe that Victor took Waldman’s discarded research on alchemy and continued it. You see, my friend also wanted to find a way to give people back lost body parts but concluded that such a thing was not possible the good clean way yet.”

“Yeah, Victor most certainly took the professor’s discarded research and ran with it.” Igor ran his hand through his curly hair.

“It also looks like Victor didn’t care for the consequences it would bring or the pain it would cause considering what happened to Lord Stein or how many abominations he created in the process.” Prometheus said out loud.

“What do you mean by abominations? What did else did you find?” Albert demanded to know.

“A perfectly preserved human hand in some kind of green liquid. The hand even showed signs of being... alive. It melted as soon as it was not longer contained though.” Prometheus began.

“Then we found a monster that was buried beneath the remains of the lab and was STILL ALIVE too! It would have killed us if it weren’t for Prometheus!” Igor added trembling at the memory.

“When I put it down, its body melted and evaporated just like Lord Stein’s and the hand did. It was likely one of Frankenstein’s earlier experiments or rather... one of his earlier victims...” Prometheus winced before showing Albert the little jar of green liquid “This is the liquid. I haven’t analyzed it yet, but I think it was in Lord Stein’s and the monster’s systems. I think it’s some kind of chemical preservation agent.”

Albert could not see it, but a whiff of it alone made his face turn white “That smells like something that is not of this world...”

Prometheus covered it up and it put it back on the shelf “I think that now is a good time to talk to the police.”

“No, it isn’t. If anything, you two would wind up guilty. Private property that has been destroyed is still private property and considering our impression of Victor so far, he's probably the type to play that card. The evidence you found is also only circumstantial.” Albert warned them.

“The notebook isn’t.” Igor pointed out.

“Do you still have it?” Albert asked and Igor’s response was a long silence followed by facepalming.

“We have the jar, Albert.” Prometheus reminded him.

“Can you prove it belongs to Baron Frankenstein or that it is connected to what became of Lord Stein?” Albert shot back which made Prometheus grumble in frustration “You said you have a standing appointment with Mr. William Frankenstein though, don’t you?”

“Yes, I do. It’s a follow up where I will go to the Frankenstein manor.” Prometheus’ face lit up.

“You said William is a person from your past who was dear to you, then he might recognize you and help you. However, you also said he showed all the signs of being an abuse victim, so you must approach the situation delicately, Prometheus.” the old man advised him.

“Alright.” Prometheus replied as he started to gently brush a now dry Ghost.

As he did though, they heard the doorbell of the clinic ring. Prometheus removed his gloves to go answer it as it could be an emergency patient. After all, no matter what he was going through, he still had a duty as a doctor. When he opened the door, he saw Mrs. Eldrich in tears looking completely defeated.

“Mrs. Eldrich? What’s wrong? Does Mark need my help?” he asked her.

“There’s no helping Mark anymore. He jumped from the balcony of his studio this morning.” she told him as tears ran down her cheeks.

I'm interested in knowing Prom's connection to William...just what kind of relationship did they have before Victor got his hands on Prometheus? Could it have been one where the mad doctor decided to get back at Prom by making him look terrifying?

Poor Mark...I did not see that coming...😔

Dr. Prometheus is an amnesiac who's earliest memory only dates back three years. He has the appearance of a ragdoll, the strength of twenty men, a heart of gold and extensive medical and surgical knowledge which he uses to help the sick and injured regardless of social standing. One day, Prof. Victor Frankenstein, the man who is most likely responsible for Prometheus' mental and physical, comes into town to share his wonder treatment with anyone rich enough to afford it, but along with it, strange and terrifying things start happening which Prometheus will not stand for. In doing so, he slowly remembers his dark past and the darker truth about himself...
