Getting slightly dark in the homestretch of the end of issue 1. Dark times, worries, and stresses will bring out the worst in folks, and Mr. McKennon really let Oops get the better of him.
Even though Mr. McKennon just hit a kid, I do feel sorry for him in this episode. He’s just a butcher selling his product in a city where the villagers have little to no money, times are hard, guards are crackin' down on villagers that can’t pay their taxes, and he has to focus selling enough meat to pay his own expenses. Meat’s probably not a cheap thing to come by either. The animal has to be raised, feed, kept healthy, then butchered to bring it to the people only for a small hungry boy to steal what little he has to sell. It’s very easy as an adult to get wrapped up in stress and lose sight of what’s really in front of them. I think Mr. McKennon starts to see that as he turns to walk away.
