I've been learning a lot about 3D modeling as I've been using Blender more to model backgrounds, and Krita to blend them in. My site and blog have WIPs about the process and tips that I learned throughout the process!

Hi everyone. I don’t post here often, but I’m sorry that Magical Renegades has an unplanned hiatus that kept getting extended; the last episode was published in October 2024 and the last WIP for the next episode is from several weeks ago. Part of this was from frequently being busy with other things away from the computer, but since November I also spent much of the free time I had to write and draw focused on my other character project.
My drawings for Huevember 2024 were of characters from that project. I’ll say more in another post to keep this one from getting very long. Updates tend to fall behind when I participate in month-long art challenges and I expect that to happen, but since December I’ve been so focused on the other project since it began going through a major overhaul with a new version that I wanted to get caught up on from the previous version ASAP but this overhaul has been going on since then.
I should’ve mentioned this reason for the hiatus, and this other project far sooner to keep you informed. Regrettably, I haven’t been visiting Tapas as often as I should. When I have the free time, I’m often active writing and drawing something and it’s usually for either project. During this hiatus, I’ve never forgotten about Magical Renegades, and I’ve always appreciated there are readers and I’m sorry for holding readers up for 6 months now. I always intended to juggle projects in a balanced way, so I’ve kept wanting to get back to this one.
It’s also felt more difficult working on a webtoon than before when my other project has a simpler format, that also makes me feel uncertain about Magical Renegades, but I’m still committed to finishing episode 44. If I changed the format after that episode, it’d be as a light novel since I’ve become more used to writing short stories for the other project, but still like to draw. I’m already close to halfway there with a light novel adaptation since there already is one up to chapter 20.

Anyway, It has been a while since I came with an update regarding the ongoing hiatus. Safe to say, I am currently editing my works (Silent Whispers - NOW Revnium) as they are in the process of being made (this may take some time as it is exam season)! However, back then quite a few of you have indicated interest towards a discord server being made, so I am here to tell you that there will be one coming soon - hopefully by the end of April (once the exams are over). Possibly some new chapter updates while we are at it!
Otherwise, feel free to follow me on @silenthisper (via INSTAGRAM / TWITTER) for more updates as I will be fairly active there regarding my progress towards my current work!

I’m not sure if I’ll get to posting an episode of Magical Renegades this month (though I’ll still steadily work on the next episode, which has several new panels adding on to the pages this episode will adapt), but that’s because I’m focusing on an October art challenge that inspired a spin-off story!
I tend to not keep art challenges simple 😅but I see opportunities to expand on characters and lore with each of them!

The spin-off is called Magical Renegades - Roll for It! and the stories are based on an art challenge where each drawing is based off of 5 prompts, each of them from a different column and rolled with dice or RNG.
That setup inspired this spin-off to take place in a strange MMO RPG that several characters are playing, and will feature them in different situations as they try to complete quests, navigate the world and possibly mysteries behind this game.
I’ve done other art challenges with extra drawings and short stories for Magical Renegades before that also added on to the lore. Most of them are featured in The Scattered Archives and sorted by the timeline they take place:

I’m participating in Sketchtember this year! 🎉 Production of Magical Renegades will still continue during this time and may be feasible since I’m trying to keep this challenge simple. Sketches drawn from start to finish in the same day.

I’ve still been working on Magical Renegades every day. Episodes 24 and 25 took a lot more time than usual since they aren’t adaptations of earlier comic pages. Episode 26 won’t be either.
25 and 26 will have complex backgrounds that I designed in Blender! This is a large upfront investment of time, but it’d save time later when I’d need to use those backgrounds again at different angles.
As time-consuming as modeling those have been, I like designing architecture and have a lot to say about that in my recent and upcoming WIP posts!

*Chapter 10 of Extra! Chronicles. This will be posted following episode 25.
*Characters page for both sites
