Well folks, it's officially October, and that means there are only 24 days left in the Tapas Action Fantasy Tournament.
Don't know what that is? Tapas decided to hold a contest for action fantasy stories, since it's being judged in three elimination style rounds, that counts as a tournament. I think. I dunno, someone probably thought it sounded cool.
Point is, the story I co-authored with the fantastic Yuki, The Day The World Went Away, is in the running. If you haven't checked it out yet, I'd appreciate it if you checked it out. I'll be doing more promo over the following weeks, with some BTS stuff and character art, so stay tuned.
Cheers,
Rusty

It's official: The Day The World Went Away is here. Been waiting for the right time to launch, and I reckon the Action Fantasy Tournament counts. I would greatly appreciate it if you guys checked it out. And hey, if you like it, I'd appreciate the sub even more.
It’s too late to save the world, but they might be able to save themselves.
When Harume Li and her partners stumble across a rogue AI bent on flooding the world, they immediately try to do the responsible thing and warn the proper authorities. Only after a brush with assassins do they realize the hopelessness of their situation.
NOAH cannot be stopped, not by them. But the mad AI will trade Haru and her family’s silence for a little warning and a way to survive the Flood. All they need is a plan and a boat: the SS-357 Ono, an antiquated museum submarine that can carry them to safety beneath the waves.
Now it’s a race against the rising tide. Will they be able to steal and repair their new home in time, or will they be swept away on The Day The World Went Away?
The amazing Kat is rounding the bend of the final week of her Kickstarter campaign for physical editions of Robust Heat. In the meantime, here's a character sketch she did for The Day The World Went Away. Seriously amazing artist, and an amazing person. Y'all go show her some love.
So, starting with the ongoing stuff: both Project Legacy and Have Gun, Will Reincarnate are written and buffered out to the end of the year. However, due to the almost complete lack of interest in Project Legacy, I'm not yet sure if it's going to continue on past that. There's time yet for things to turn around, but if I'm being honest, it kinda sucks to see it flop so hard. I've done some tweaking to see if the algorithm gods will step in, but we'll see.
Because of the lack of interest in Project Legacy, I'm holding off on purchasing covers for The Ambitions Are, The Price of a Mile (Edgar's new story, which I wrote this winter), and the Have Gun, Will Reincarnate anthology. The participants in the anthology have all been massively busy, so that's probably for the best. It's still happening, and the Inksgiving funds are still going to buy the cover, but it's on hold until everyone has a little more free time. As for the other two, I may just release them as part of Baptism By Fire for the sake of keeping everything tidy.
The good news is, work is still ongoing on The Day The World Went Away. My co-author and I recently made a trip to Galveston, Texas to visit the USS Cavalla, a Gato-class submarine and sister to the USS Cod, the hero ship in TDTWWA. Work on that is proceeding apace. We just wrapped up volume 3, and work has started on volume 4. Stay tuned.
I really liked what I've read of Project Legacy so far. I've just had bad brain and busy keeping me from reading lately. I hope to get back to reading soon. That's a cool submarine btw! :o
It's fun to write, too, but in light of everything else I want to do, not to mention the mental health hit, I'm thinking I should probably prioritize other things first.
