The feathers showed up before the body did.
They come from his back, between his shoulder blades, when things get to be too much.
Yosuke doesn't know why. He doesn't know a lot of things — like what his life was before the hospital or what exactly being genetically Enhanced makes him now that the government has opinions about that.

What he knows is he's supposed to blend in. Normal school. Normal teenager. No one finds out.

Then a classmate turns up dead in the snow, the class rep's father is rumored to make Enhanced kids disappear, and the drummer boy across the hall keeps looking at Yosuke like he’s the best thing since sliced bread.

Yosuke is trying very hard to blend in. Be normal. It's not going great.
