Description
Ric Rac the clown had neon green hair and an asymmetrical blue mouth ring. A yellow star burned bright on one cheek.
This wasn’t makeup. No—these were real clowns.
Topaz had purple hair and a pair of fancy glasses. Her shoes were clean, but her hands shook when she adjusted them.
The air around them held an atmosphere of regret, and a spirit of confusion clung to the soles of their feet.
“I didn’t know we’d end up fighting those cats,” Ric Rac said.
Topaz didn’t respond right away. Somewhere behind them, a balloon popped. Nobody flinched.
