Though it's something she'd trained for since she was young, Othala was unprepared for the ceremony she had to complete in order to inherit the title.
As the next headsman (or headswoman, mind you), her job is to punish those who are guilty, even if they truly aren't.
One or two years after officially claiming the title of Royal Executioner, Othala is a recluse, taking joy in the company of plants and animals rather than people. She strongly believes her only purpose is to kill at the order of the king, hoping that if she's obedient she'll be left alone. When one day Othala is approached by a mysterious stranger who makes her question the executioners true purpose....
