Description
The Ashlai people have lived comfortably by the edge of the Great Forest for generations, but not one of them would dare venture beyond the boundary markers, lest they fall prey to the terrible creatures that dwell within.
However, on the night of the annual Starlight Festival, an unexpected disaster befalls the village, and the boundary markers that once kept forest and village apart are destroyed. Guided by strange visions, chronically ill Utela must abandon her ruined home and make her way through the forest to the homeland of her mysterious mentor - the only person she knows to have survived the depths of the forest. But the lands beyond the forest have their own horrors, and monsters can twist and hide themselves in the hearts of men.
