This is an article I wrote in December 2019 in hopes of publication through journalistic avenues about mental health, video games, and racial identity. Unfortunately, in the months since, no one has bitten on it. Also in the months since, race relations have now dominated the headlines once again, giving me the stinking feeling that if I tweaked it, the outlets that rejected it would be jumping on it.
Not giving them that opportunity. So I'm doing this myself on this year's Juneteenth, the day when slaves were officially liberated in the United States.
I also have no idea if this is something that goes against Tapas' posting guidelines, but I wanted to publish this myself and this is my main place of doing so. Guess I'll see?
