30 years ago, an undisclosed laboratory in Alaska, thought to be investigating a material on unknown origin, was destroyed under suspicious circumstances. One week later, reports came in from all over the world of people who could tear cars in half, who could walk on water, who could turn stones into gold. The world came to a standstill, at a lost of how to usher in this new age of humanity. And then it came to a panic. These people were labeled as freaks, weapons, and dangerous. They were subdued. They were hunted. And they were executed.
Now, in the year 2068, they go undisturbed. The population of supers, once estimated at 5 million, has dwindled to a mere 1 million. The days of mobs and chaos on the streets has diminished to discrimination towards those with powers. They live in secret, hiding their gifts. What was once thought to be the revolutionary awakening of human potential has been snuffed out to mere embers and ashes.
But something else awakens in its stead. Something older, and far more threatening. And as the darkness closes in, fate leaves five strangers to protect the very people who had once turned on them in the past.
