Plainwood is an unrecognized city-state in the mountains that grew up with the fear and dedication to spirits, including demons, ghosts, and left hands. Of course, once the left-handed Natalie Aureole moves onto the notorious Riverside Road, right next to the notorious House with the Statue On It, all of Plainwood gets riled up. Clearly, the salt rock stones, threatening notes, and mysterious tomes left all around don't help the town psyche either--and especially not the psyche of the owner of the Statue House, Eileen Pritchett.
