Our story is told from the alternating perspectives of Sierra and Agate, students of the Anjayan Runecasting Guild. Strangers from completely different walks of life; Sierra attempts to escape her noble roots while Agate attempts to escape the guards.

Sierra is dedicated and focused, her Runecasting is precise and purposeful. She meticulously maintains her uniform and her discussions with elders are educated and respectful. She is curious and intelligent, and willing to use that to get what she wants.

Agate usually makes it to lessons and they keep letting him pass. Agate wears clothes when occasion demands. He has words. He’s cunning, yet dense. He claims to have a plan. Don’t believe it.

As life awkwardly throws them together, they must set aside their differences. First to save themselves, but as conspiracies are revealed and disaster strikes the Guild, they might be needed to save more than just each other.

Note: Written as a collaboration between two authors, with Bec being the main author of Sierra’s chapters and Beej the author for Agate. We aim to keep a good flow, but expect there to be some differences in style between the two characters’ voices.
