One thousand years ago (or so), the Lord of Light conquered the world and became a god.

Now, there are strict laws about magic. Most of those born with it simply need to register their powers. Some are forbidden to use theirs. Some disappear.

When Destiny was nine, they saw a girl display magic they'd never before seen. Then she disappeared. When their own powers blossomed, Destiny concealed them, just as they concealed their attraction to girls. It was only one more thing to hide.

But the thing about secrets is, they've got to come out eventually. So when Destiny gets a chance to leave their home, they take it. And when they're given a chance to fight for a world where no one has to hide what they did, well...
No god is worth worshiping if he forces his followers to hide their truest selves.
